Clean Non Smoking Home

It just kills me what you will see on okay at least in the Seller's Description. I get a kick out of so many things (and I am sure people have had a laugh or two at my expense as well).
I was browsing through some items tonight and was looking at "Vintage" used ashtrays. The person said it came from a clean non-smoking home. I wonder what the ashtray was used for? I am kidding but, I think unless it is certain items that might be adversely affected by cigarette smoke like lets say a geputer or a sensitive electronic device does it really matter whether or not some one smoked in the home well, maybe if they burned holes in the item that might matter. I don't know about you but if I buy say something like an item of clothing I am going to wash it before I wear it. And honestly its the least of my worries. I bought the other day what looked like to be a really nice blouse in the picture and when it arrived wadded in plastic bag with deodorant rings under the arms and smelling of BO and ketchup stains and covered in cat hair. I would have gladly rather it arrived smelling of cigarette smoke believe me. Cigarette smoke odor washes out easily the other above mentioned things do not. I assume the Seller decided to wear it a few times before she sent it.
I know that a few people are "allergic" to cigarette smoke, but mostly its a annoyance to people not so much a allergy (although they will tell you differently). I like animals just as much as anybody else but its my opinion animals don't belong in the house. I don't want cats crawling all over my counters, tables, dishes or okay items. I know cat lovers will say "Oh, my cat is trained it never gets up on the counters or on my furniture". I am here to tell you, cats have a mind of their own and when the you aren't looking they are climbing on your tables, counters, drinking out of you glass and spraying, clawing your furniture. Dogs are equally as bad, they may be house broken but you bring them back inside and they use your sofa, carpet, clothing as toilet paper. So my advice to a Seller/Pet Owner, if you sell item particularly clothing make sure you wash or clean it before shipping.
I would never dream of shipping an item covered in animal hair, urine, feces to anyone! Your animal maybe be cute and cuddly too you but it plain stinks to me! As a pet owner bring an objective friend or family member to your home (who have no animals themselves) ask them what your home smells like to them?Kennel gees to mind. Yes you might regularly bathe, brush and care for your animal and keep your home "clean" but the odorit is definitely noticable. I have been to impeccably clean homes (least it looks like it on the surface) it stinks to me. Why? maybe its that little lapdog sitting on the other end of the sofa? Oh yes you just bathed him 2 days ago, and just shampooed your carpet. But your house still stinks! Why? Think about it this way..... Okay lets say you quit wearing clothes (I mean you are absolutely naked, nothing). Start using the bathroom out in the yard, (or better yetset up a human sized litter box right off your kitchen)and skip using T.P. and washing your hands, take a bath only say a couple times a month. Think how disgusting this is. This is why I do not have animals in the house. I would much rather have used clothing (or anything else for that matter) smelling of cigarette smoke than find animal hairs on it. This is my opinion and I am sure I will upset a few non-smokers and animal lovers. But I have never read any medical evidence that a smoky smelling sweater has injured anyone. If I were allergic to smoke, I would simply wash before wearing. Animal hair and dander are difficult to remove even with laundering. Now, I do think if you are a smoker you do need to be conscious of the smoke smell, yes it may smell okay to you but it stinks to a non-smoker. Launder, wash otherwise clean your items before sending them to their new owner. okay prohibits "dirty" items being sent anyhow. I am sure everyone would agree, we want nice clean clothing/items sent to us. Yes, I am going to wash it again (call me paranoid but I am just that way). It really doesn't take that much effort. And it makes doing business with you so much nicer and will help ensure repeat business for you. And in a brick and mortar store you know they rely on repeat business and so should you.
