HO Slot Car Buildings/Accessories with s searches

Life is Great! Youbuild your Aurora Model Motoring HO Slot Car track after 30 years andyour Thunder-Jets are running strong. But, your kids look up at you and ask, "Daddy, when are we going to decorate the track?" The Plasticville houses from your Dad's oldLionel Train set "just do not make the cut!"
The purpose of my guide is to share myexperienceas a novice discovering available HO "slot car specific" buildings and accesories to gepliment the most recent HO race track I built for my kids. I am not a collector or expert with HO slot cars or with the buildings and kitsI reference. I hope to save most of you some time and money by providing pictures, links, and preferred okay sellers who have been very helpful in replacing "Dad's old train buildings" with some COOL "race gear!"

"Decorating" a Race Track? I responded to my two little girls, "No young ladies, we are 'accessorizing' the Race Track!" It sounded more "Mr. Manly" but I don't think they bought it!
I began by doing searches on Plasticville HOto find inexpensive HO train buildings that were used, built, and sometimes broken. My kids and I enjoy painting and fixing up the buildings. If you are not "in to" the model making aspect of this hobby, you may pick up some custom built buildings for your race track.I have found many "slot car specific" building utilizing the searches and the okay sellers I reference in this guide. Remember to mark the "Search title and description" box for better search results. Read on!
Plasticville
The Plasticville Train Crossover Bridgefits over two lanes of HO slot car track and can be easily converted to a Race Track Bridge by replacing the decals with racing specific banners (Dunlop, Nextel Cup, etc.) generated from your geputer. I picked up one for $5.99 on okay. I plan on adding HO scale signal lights for a realistic look. The picture shows the bridge before I added the Dunlop banner.

The Plasticville Concession Stand is the easiest to build and to start out with. You can buy a new kit for $5.00 and add people as needed. Again, for a more personal touch, banners or signs can be generated with your geputer if you want a more personal look. If your a "golfer" and not a "model maker", acol (okay Seller) sells great examples of this concession stand built with various banners and colors including people! (I personally like the "Hooters" stand he sells!)

Aurora - AFX
Bleachersor Grandstandsare a must and are available in different examplesand prices. The easiest to find are the AFX bleachers. These sometimes were available with "Revamatic Sound." I found an okay seller waynesafxstickersthat produces replacement decals for all the Aurora/AFX grandstands and bleachers.

The Aurora Model Motoring curved bleachers are a great addition for your 9 inch 1/4 turns. They act as a guardrail and can easily refurbished with paint, flags, people, and banners. The original Aurora Curved Bleacher I purchased for $20 was painted baby blue and appeared to be used as a baseball outfield bleacher on someone's layout. I repainted it back to the original "wood brown." I added AFX flags that can be painted and added to any race building or accessory. The AFX Flags can be purchased at SlotCarCentral in bulk at a good price. You can also purchase a new reproduction of the curved bleachers for $20 from Model Motoring.
Adding HO scale sitting figures is the next step. Since the pre-painted sitting figures are quite expensive,I simply have not motivated myself to begin painting the bulk "un-painted" figures. Sounds like a job for next winter!
.
The Aurora Model Motoring Grandstandcan be found on okay in kit form or built. I believe they were built right up through the AFX days since I have seen them available in 1970's AFX boxes. Prices vary, but you can sometimes find a built "fix-er-up-er" for a reasonable price. I was fortunate to find mine in a kit form New In Box.

Atlas
Atlas produced a geplete line of slot car buildings and accesories. Since they are quite collectable, they can be expensive to purchase. But, all of the pieces are fantastic additions if you can find them at a price you can afford. Try searching with Pit HO, Atlas, or bleachers. Also, check out the items from Mr. Atlas (okay Seller). He has an incredible Atlas specific collection. Sorry, I do not have pictures as an example, but the above searches will point you in the right direction.
Faller
Concession stands, pizza booths, ticket booths, Kiosks...all available from Faller. If you think about what you will find at a race track, even the great amusement park pieces that Faller produces could apply to the infield of your slot car track! The "Mushroom Cap" stand in the picture at the beginning of this guide is a Faller. Exceptional detail and simply FUN! I even found one of Faller's train towers being used as an Officials Tower on a slot car track I found on-line. Search okay with Faller Toweror Faller HOand have a blast searching the pictures! Use your imagination!
Faller AMS

The picture at the beginning of the guide is the Faller AMS Continental Tower and Pits #4904, while the pictures above are the Motor Sport Cafe #4914, BP Grandstands #4907, and Shell Sign with bleachers and assorted billboards #4906.
Faller produced some of the coolest slot car accesories! If you have a passion for Formula One Racing or find yourself watching the movie "Grand Prix" on Sunday afternoons like us, these german made "beauties" are in a category all by themselves! Try a search on Faller AMSor Faller HOon okay. You will have to refine your search to sort out the train buildings and the Faller slot cars, but you can sometimes find built examples that need only a little TLC at reasonable prices. At this writing, SlotCarCentral currently has a couple NIB kits from the 1970's available.Get them while they last!

I have provided you with only a beginning on the most gemon "slot car specific" buildings that you may expand with. I will update this guide as I have new discoveries, but since guides are limited to ONLY 10 PICTURES it makes it a little difficult to expand! Check back often!
I hope that I have been of some help and saved time for the beginners! My motivation is simply to share what I have learned and encourage others to spend time with their kids enjoying this wonderful hobby!
Slot Car Racing is COOL! Share it with your kids!
Best regards and may God Bless our Children. ZMAN.
